ROLE PURPOSE:
The Web Developer serves a critical role to Jones Knowledge and Jones International University. It involves working with Jones Knowledge staff, including a web development team of 5-10 people, internal marketing staff and instructional designers to develop, maintain and improve the high quality of Jones Knowledge courses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Employees HTML, PHP, Flash and Javascript to construct online courses.
2. Works with instructional designers throughout the course development process and provides feedback on quality and usability.
3. Works with multimedia developers to incorporate media elements into courses.
4. Performs and coordinates the quality assurance process to ensure courses are error free and finished on schedule.
5. Revises courses by updating content as needed and notifying instructional designers and media developers of required course materials.
6. Ensures hyperlink integrity by running WebQA reports each term and updating links as needed.
7. Maintains course documentation to ensure course quality and consistency.
8. Stays apprised of new technologies to optimize course quality and interaction.

Operational Competency Statements:
1. Code Web pages using an html editor; JavaScript, PHP and HTML programming
2. Work with the course web development team to optimize efficiency and course quality.
3. Implement course revisions and perform quality control checks.
4. Manage the quality control process from beginning to end.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelors degree preferred
• Experience Required:
o HTML/XHTML
o PHP
o Flash
o XML
o CSS
o MySQL
• Desired Experience
o Experience building online courses
o Experience optimizing online content to make it accessible and Section 508 compliant
o Use of phpMyAdmin for MySQL data analysis/manipulation
o Familiarity with SCORM
