John Malone New Country Morning Host
Jones Radio Networks' has brought John Malone, long-time Country Music programmer and morning personality, to the 6-11 a.m. time slot on Classic Hit Country, starting April 10. Malone replaces retiring Bill Western, who had hosted the syndicated format since 1997.
Malone is a radio veteran who started working on the air while still in high school in Fayetteville, Tenn., more than 25 years ago. He has served as music director, news reporter, weathercaster and program director for a variety of stations in Tennessee and Alabama. Malone lives in Huntsville, Ala., where he will record his JRN morning show.
"I'm really excited to be a part of the JRN team, and I'm so happy the technology allows us to do creative things we couldn't have done before," said Malone of his new JRN syndication. "Hosting the morning show on Classic Hit Country is a labor of love because these are the songs that I cut my teeth on as a young radio announcer. The music means the world to me."
Of his experience as an announcer, and later program director, at the legendary WSM in Nashville (home of the Grand Ole Opry), Malone said, "I was surrounded by country music history every day. So it's more than a job to me - it's a passion."
