Jones International University Chosen to Provide Project Management Courses to Mexican Government Employees

Jones International University® (JIU®), the first entirely virtual institution to be regionally accredited in the U.S., has been approved by the Mexican federal government to offer its employees a series of three courses in project management. The Project Management Framework, Planning Projects to Manage Outcomes, and Project Controls and Tracking Progress will become available to more than 40,000 Mexican government personnel beginning in November. The courses will be accessed through @Campus Mexico, a portal designed by the government to develop and strengthen employee competencies in government, management and technical skills.

JIU has been working with @Campus Mexico since fall 2005 and currently offers four other courses through @Campus: Negotiation Levels 1, 2 and 3 and Introduction to Federal Public Administration. It is one of only two U.S. universities officially sanctioned to offer educational programs to government employees in Mexico. Harvard Business School is the other.

JIU is a Registered Education Provider for the Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI®), the respected professional association which certifies project managers.

"Mexican officials who learned of our status as a Registered Education Provider for the Project Management Institute requested that we make the series available through @Campus," said JIU President David E. Leasure. "Because the skills it teaches have so many professional applications, there has been significant demand within the Mexican government for project management training."

All of the courses JIU offers through @Campus Mexico are taught in Spanish by bilingual professors from within JIU's School of Business. The university's asynchronous format allows students to study at their convenience while communicating with professors and fellow students through email and directed discussions in the online Forum.
