Kurt Luchs Promoted to Jones American Comedy Network VP/GM
Jones Radio Networks® (JRN) is pleased to announce that Kurt Luchs has been promoted to Vice President/General Manager for Jones American Comedy Network™ (JACN).
"Under Kurt's leadership, JACN has expanded its offerings to include comedy directed exclusively to the consumer markets, as well as moving our content into the new media world," said Phil Barry, Group VP/GM of JRN.
"Over the next couple of months, you'll see and hear more about the new JACN website and some exciting initiatives designed to bring our content to new platforms and help make the Jones American Comedy Network name synonymous with consumer comedy, as well as enhancing our position as the number one provider of comedy to radio stations."
After working in the Midwest as part of the Luchs Brothers, a sketch comedy act with three of his siblings, Kurt became a full-time comedy writer. He has written for "Politically Incorrect," "The Late Late Show" with Craig Kilborn, and has been contributing to The Onion since 1996. In 2003, Barnes & Noble published his book of clever business advice gleaned from gangster movies, "Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli: A Wiseguy's Guide to the Workplace." Luchs joined JACN in 2000 as a staff writer and was named General Manager at the end of 2002.
JACN has been creating comedy bits for radio stations and other media outlets for more than 20 years. Each day, subscribing affiliate stations receive topical audio sound bites, song parodies, faked commercials, drops and interactives directly from the JACN website.
Through its Radio Prep and Onion Radio News services, JACN supplies the world's funniest radio shows with the world's best audio and written comedy material. The Onion Radio News, a daily newscast from The Onion's award-winning news team, is "a lot like the print and online versions, but without all that reading."
